The Orthodox church was built in 1858. There are relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. It is probably the only temple in the country funded entirely by one person - it was built thanks to the Greek merchant Paraskeva Nicolaou. A monument dedicated to him can be seen in front of the church.
Paraskeva Nicolaou decided to build a temple in thanks to God for saving his life. It is said that when he sailed to Odessa, a violent storm broke out in the Black Sea. Then the terrified merchant began to pray to St. Nicholas and declared that if he came out alive, he would fund a church and a hospital in honor of the saint. Although he did not return to Varna, he obliged the executors of his will to build both institutions after his death.
Currently, every year on December 6, that is the day dedicated to St. To Mikołaj, a solemn ceremony takes place in the church square, during which the priest blesses sailors and sailors.
