A modern experience center is dedicated to the First World War. Unlike most museums, it does not depict events from the front line, but tells the reality of contemporary life in a small area of Belgium, called a "patch of homeland", which remained neutral during the war and was not occupied by Germany.
In the museum you can see both traditional and audiovisual exhibitions that allow you to visualize well everyday life in the situation at the time. You can see a rich collection of photographs, listen to original recordings, as well as various souvenirs and personal items such as letters, notebooks and clothes. Some exhibitions are also dedicated to the figure of the Belgian King Albert I, who personally commanded the Belgian army and fought to preserve first the neutrality and then the independence of his country.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions are regularly organized in the museum. There is also a buffet and gift shop.
