The architects Robbrecht en Daem and MJosé Van Hee designed a modern structure whose task was to create an open place for meetings and trade. The hall was made in large part from natural materials (wood) perfectly fitted into the gothic surroundings - Belfort belfry, church of St. Nicholas and the cathedral of St. Bavo.
