Coudenberg is a small hill on which Coudenberg Palace was once located, and now houses the Royal Palace. After several years of excavation work, visitors were allowed to see part of the ruins of the original building.
The shared rooms included the basements of the former palace, rooms under the banquet hall, and storage space under the chapel. In addition, it is worth visiting the Coudenberg Museum, which presents items excavated during excavations, including ceramics, as well as glass and metal products.
Coudenberg Palace was destroyed in a fire that took place in 1731. The building stood empty for the next forty years. It was not until 1770 that it was razed to the ground, and in its place a neoclassical Royal Palace was erected, which can be admired to this day.
