The building from 1577 is the work of masonry master Wolfgang Khranlachner. A tank was installed inside, from which water was pumped through a pipeline to tenements and two city fountains. The ornate, Renaissance façade of the water tower contains coats of arms symbolizing the various Habsburg estates.
