The villa was built in 1857 as a summer residence for Empress Elizabeth, known as Sisi. Its architecture shows elements of historical romanticism and Gothic style characteristic of the Tudor era. In the courtyard there is a marble fountain with the bust of Emperor Franz Josef. The villa has a permanent exhibition dedicated to Sissi and the history of the building itself.
