Lake Neusiedl

Local name: Neusiedler See

The lake is 36 km long and 6-12 km wide, but it is extremely shallow. On average, its depth reaches only 0.7 m, and the tank periodically dries up partially. This is a typical feature for steppe lakes, which makes it a unique place in Europe. The lake and surroundings have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
