Schloss Eggenberg in Graz is the largest baroque castle in Styria. It was built in the 17th century, but a large part of it dates back to the Middle Ages. In August 2010, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
From March to October, state rooms are available to tourists, where you can admire the classic interior decorations from that period, as well as the costumes worn at the time. All exhibits have an interesting historical commentary. Temporary exhibitions also regularly take place in the castle.
Particularly noteworthy is the park surrounding the castle with an area of about 18 hectares. The planetary garden is particularly interesting. The whole was kept in the philosophy of nature and world order.
In the northwestern part of the park there is also the Archaeological Museum opened in 2009.
