Lokaler Name: Muzeul de Artă

The museum is housed in an 18th-century baroque palace, built according to the design of the German architect Johann Eberhard Blaumann. It houses valuable collections of Romanian and European art, including painting, graphics and decorative arts from the 15th to the 20th centuries. In 1997, the museum was nominated for the European Museum of the Year award.

The collections are presented in over 20 rooms. You can see works by artists such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Ştefan Luchian, Dimitrie Paciurea, Theodor Pallady and Camil Ressu. The permanent exhibition also includes paintings by lesser-known Transylvania artists from the 18th to 19th centuries, including Franz Neuhauser, Joseph Neuhauser and Koreh Sigismund.

The National Gallery is located on the upper floor. It is a synthesis of four centuries of Romanian art (16th-20th centuries) with an emphasis on the works of artists from Transylvania.
