Orthodox cathedral of St. The Apostles Peter and Paul was built on a peninsula overlooking the Black Sea. The temple is surrounded by a park with an archaeological complex including the ruins of the old town of Tomis. The church was built of pressed brick in the Greco-Roman style. It has a wide façade and its tower is 35 meters high.

Inside the cathedral there is an oak iconostasis, an antique choir and frescoes painted by two painters from Bucharest in 1959-1965. The most valuable icon depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary and is considered miraculous. The relics of St. Panteleimon, St. Simeon Słupnik the Elder and St. Auxentius of Bithynia.

The church was built in 1985 according to a design by architects Alexandru Orăscu and Carol Benesch. It was elevated to the rank of a cathedral in 1941.
