Borsec is one of the most famous Romanian balneological spas. A small village in the Harghita Mountains, visitors can enjoy beautiful views, a thermal bath and the possibility of exploring the surrounding caves.
Historically, the areas where Borsec is located belonged to the Hungarian country of Szekler. To this day, a large part of the locals speak Hungarian and cultivate Hungarian traditions. The local spa was developed in the 19th century, and today the most famous Romanian mineral water is bottled here, Borsec. There is also the Museum of Mineral Water in the city, and the Artesian Fountain in the spa park.
The Baile Borsec Thermal Baths are also associated with the local waters, offering the opportunity to relax in warm mineral waters. In addition to relaxation, there are also numerous health treatments available. The badger has a mild microclimate that is good for health, especially for people suffering from heart and respiratory diseases.
In addition to the attractions related to mineral waters, Borsec also offers great opportunities for active leisure. In the vicinity of the village, there is the Bicaz Gorge, considered one of the most beautiful in Romania. At its end you can see Lake Lacu Rosu, which is the local center of leisure and water sports. The surrounding mountains have a dense network of hiking trails, and thanks to their diversity, they are attractive to lovers of gentle ridges and mountain pastoral settlements, as well as lovers of rocks.
In the vicinity of the village, there are also two caves that are open to the public, the Bear'sCave and theIce Cave . In winter, the Speranța Ski Center is also operating here.
