Festung Festung IX Fort

Fort IX, belonging to the Kaunas Fortress ring, was built from 1882 until the beginning of the 20th century. Most of the time it served as a prison, and during the Nazi occupation, mass murders of the Jewish population took place here. Today, at the fort, there is a monument commemorating the murdered.
