Kathedrale des Heiligen Colman
Lokaler Name: Ardeaglais Naomh Colmán
A Roman Catholic cathedral located in the coastal city of Cobh in the south of Ireland. The seat of the Diocese of Cloyne. In the cathedral there is one of the largest in Europe, with as many as 49 bells, a carillon.
The neo-Gothic temple was designed by Edward Welby Pugin and George Ashlin. After Pugin's death, Thomas Coleman assisted in completing the project. Construction began in 1867. The first mass was celebrated in 1879, but the finishing works and the construction of the 90-meter tower lasted until 1915. In the cathedral, you can find elements typical of Gothic architecture: massive marble columns supporting the aisles, stained glass windows, beautiful wall decorations and figures made with extreme precision.
