Croke Park

Lokaler Name: Croke Park

Croke Park is Ireland's largest stadium dedicated to Gaelic team games. Mainly the Gaelic football and hurling teams play here. Concerts and cultural events are also held at the stadium.

The site where the stadium is now located has been used for hurling and Gaelic football since the 18th century. The arena was rebuilt in its present shape at the end of the 20th century. It is a concrete structure with covered stands that can accommodate over 80,000 spectators.

Due to the strict rules of the stadium owner, the Gaelic Athletic Association is not allowed to play any other sports here, apart from national Gaelic ones. An exception was made during the reconstruction of Aviva Stadium, when Irish women's and men's football and rugby matches were allowed at Croke Park. The opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in 2003 was held at the stadium. It is also used as a concert venue.
