The museum is dedicated to the history of Funen and the city of Odense in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It is housed in a two-story Renaissance half-timbered building from the mid-17th century and a modern edifice built in 2013.
During your visit, you can travel around Odense during the Viking, Medieval and Renaissance era. The interior of two small apartments has also been reconstructed here - one reflects the reality of life in the 17th century, and the other in the 1940s. Man from Koelbjerg. They are the oldest human remains discovered in Denmark, dating back to 8000 BC
Thinking about the youngest visitors, a Children's Backyard has been arranged, showing the realities of life in the 19th century. Children can see how it was possible to sleep in the beds of that time and how to operate the water pumps. They can also play the role of helpers in a carpentry workshop.
