The Rathcroghan Visitor Center is located in the small town of Tulsk in County Roscommon. Its vicinity is one of the largest archaeological sites in Europe that has not yet been explored. In the center, you can see multimedia exhibitions showing the history of the region from prehistoric times to the early Middle Ages.
In the county of Roscommon there was a strong kingdom of Connacht at the dawn of our era. The settlement in this place dates back to prehistoric times, and archaeologists have designated about 240 sites in this area that require research. It is estimated that discoveries of the same size as in Newgrange or on the Skelling Islands can occur here.
Currently, to learn more about the earliest history of these lands, visit the exhibitions conducted by the Rathcroghan Visitor Center. Using multimedia, you can move into the world of the epic "Tain or the abduction of cattle from Cuailinge" and learn about the social structure of the kingdom, its rulers and the very region of the capital, which is still waiting to be discovered.
