Куопио собор

Kuopio Cathedral stands on the Vahtivuori hill. It was built in the neoclassical style according to the design of the architect Pehr Wilhelm Palmrooth. Its construction lasted from 1806 to 1815, and in the meantime, work was suspended by the outbreak of the Russo-Swedish war.

The church was built of stone on a cross plan. At its western end there is the main altar, and at its eastern end there is a tower measuring 35.5 m high. While visiting the temple, it is worth paying attention to the altar painting "Jesus on the Cross", made in 1843 by Berndt Abraham Godenhjelm.
