The Union Museum in Iasi is located in a historic palace built in the neoclassical style in 1800-1806. It is primarily devoted to the union that created the United Principalities of Moldova and Wallachia, and then the United Principalities of Romania. They existed in total from 1859 to 1866.
The palace belonged to several boyar families, but also served as a royal residence. In the years 1859-1862 it was the residence of the first ruler of the United Principalities - Alexandru Ioan Cuza, and in the years 1916-1919 King Ferdinand spent his time here.
In the restored interiors, you can see original furniture and furnishings from that period, as well as items belonging to AI Cuza, Mihail Kogălniceanu, Vasile Alecsandri and other eminent figures of that era.
