Konin is a city with a history dating back to the 12th century. There is the oldest Romanesque road pole in Europe, as well as many interesting monuments from different eras.

The stronghold existing on the site of today's Konin was established to defend an important ford on the Warta River. Its remains are visible to this day, fragments of ramparts. A trade route ran through here, and a road pole from the mid-12th century, which showed half the way between Kalisz and Kruszwica. Currently, it can be seen at the fourteenth-century church of St. Bartłomiej, where it was moved from the Castle Square.

Among the monuments of Konin, an important place is taken by the market square with the classicist town hall, the late Gothic church of St. Andrew and the baroque church of St. Mary Magdalene with the Reformed Monastery. on the outskirts of the city there is an open-air museum belonging to the District Museum. You can see here what the villages in the vicinity of Konin looked like in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In turn, the Nadwarciański Boulevard is a place for rest and walks of the city's inhabitants.
