The biggest attraction of the cliff is Montfort Castle, which offers a wonderful panorama of the meandering river Dordogne. The 11th-century fortress was first destroyed by Simon de Montfort in 1214, and then it was conquered during the Hundred Years' War and the reigns of Louis XI and Henry IV.
