Plaza de los héroes

Originally, the place was called Petit Place in opposition to the nearby Grand Place - it has been functioning as the Heroes' Square since 1945, when it was decided to commemorate the fighters of the French resistance. The 52 tenement houses surrounding the 70-ares rectangle are historic buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, with numerous shops, cafes and pubs.
