Chisaria is the largest balneological spa in Bulgaria and a popular tourist destination. The local thermal springs were known in antiquity, and many monuments from the Roman period have survived to our times.

Most likely, the first settlement in the place of today's Chisaria was built by the Traks. They were also the first to use the local hot springs. In the following centuries, the area was occupied by the Romans, and the city called Augusta, and then Diocletianopolis, became an important spa center in this part of the Empire. To this day, remains of the mighty Roman city walls and gates, Roman baths and a Roman tomb have been preserved in Chisaria. Items found during excavations can be seen at the Archaeological Museum.

Today also the main attraction of Chisaria are the local mineral springs. There are over 20 of them here, which is the largest complex in the country. Hot springs with a temperature of 20 to 49 degrees are used in the Di Aqua Mineral Pools and Hisarya Baths. There are also many resorts and sanatoriums with their own swimming pools and spa facilities. In turn, in the center of the spa, there are several parks that make up the spa complex, such as Park "Konwalia" and Park Orpheus Dol. There is also a neoclassical Water Pump Room.
