St Ives Harbour Beach
Saint Ives is one of the most popular resorts in Great Britain. Its mild climate, blue water and picturesque beaches covered with fine sand attract crowds of holidaymakers. The gentle fall of the seabed and the exceptionally long tides of the sea make it an excellent and safe area for sunbathing with small children. The sea offers excellent surfing conditions in this area, and in the port you can watch the work of fishing boat crews.
In addition to beaches, Saint Ives offers several unusual tourist attractions, among which one of the most interesting is Barnoon Cemetery - a Victorian cemetery from the mid-nineteenth century with beautifully carved tombstones. It was shot on 1980 British film "Raise the Titanic", for which the tombstones of Saint Ives from the victims of the Titanic disaster came from. The cemetery also has a well of St. Ia (also known as Eia, Hia or Hya) - a martyr worshiped in Cornwall, who was to come here from her native Ireland on a big leaf.
Saint Ives is also an important place on the cultural map of Great Britain. It was here that Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) spent the last 26 years - one of the most famous British avant-garde sculptors. Currently, a museum operates in her house, and in the surrounding garden you can see sculptures, the presentation of which she designed herself.
