Gothenburg's sandy Askims Beach is the perfect place for a family afternoon. It is surrounded by a wide lawn where you can spread a blanket and have a picnic. The water here is relatively shallow, and its purity is confirmed by the international Blue Flag badge awarded to the beach.
At the Askims beach there is a bathing pier 259 m long and 6.5 m wide, running directly into the sea. It is the longest bathing pier in Sweden. There are two large sun terraces and bathing ramps by the pier.
In the immediate vicinity of the beach there is a cafe, a playground and a barbecue area. There are also beach volleyball courts, toilets, changing rooms and showers. There are also facilities for disabled people, including a special ramp to facilitate access to the beach.
