The Palace of Arts named after Queen Zofia is an opera house located in the center of the Town of Culture and Art. The opera house about four thousand spectators at once in three rooms (main hall, auditorium, bus hall). The auditorium consists of 17 floors. The building is very innovative and offers a lot of space and glazing. In addition to opera performances, there are concerts, recitals, cultural and political meetings. The steel and glass construction is decorated with Mediterranean vegetation. The property also has a luxury two-level restaurant.
The building was built especially for the proper setting of opera performances in the 20th century according to the design of Santiago Calatrava. The public opening took place in 2005, when the opera Fidelio by Beethoven was staged.
