One of the most unusual rock formations on the island of Gran Canaria is located inside the Tejeda volcanic caldera. Ancient Canarian settlements consisting of a hundred caves can be found nearby. On the eastern side of the rock's base is the so-called "almogarén del Bentayga", a structure that must have been a place of worship in the past.
