Santa Barbara Castle

The historic fortress is located on Mount Benacantil, which makes it dominate the entire city. The history of the castle dates back to the 9th century, and its name probably comes from the characteristic shape of the hill, which the Arabs called Banu-lQatil, or the auricle. The stronghold is surrounded by olive trees. One of the courtyards can be accessed by a special elevator from the city level.
