The Puente Nuevo Bridge is located above the grand canyon of El Tajo, where the Guadaletin River flows below. The building connects the districts of the city of Ronda - historic and newer. Above the central arch of the bridge there is a room which currently houses an exhibition showing the history of the bridge and the process of its construction. The bridge is made of stone and is supported by powerful columns.
It was built in the 18th century according to the design of José Martin de Aldehuel, under the direction of the builder Juan Antonio Díaz Machuca. The construction works lasted for 40 years. Earlier in this place there was a bridge, which quickly after commissioning was destroyed, as a result of which 50 people were killed.
