Maspalomas is one of the most important resorts in Gran Canaria. It is known for its sandy beaches and a belt of dunes, protected by the Dunes de Maspalomas Nature Reserve. The city also has a wide range of entertainment for the whole family.
The biggest attraction of Maspalomas are the coastal dunes stretching over 6 km. There are two protected areas, the Dunes de Maspalomas Nature Reserve and the Playa del Ingles Dunes. Often called "golden sands", the dunes are an ideal place not only for walks, but also for relaxation and sunbathing. The dunes reach all the way to the sea.
In addition to the dune areas, the resort also has traditional beaches, Maspalomas Beach and Ingles Beach. They are well developed and have extensive recreational facilities. In addition to sunbathing and sea bathing, there are good conditions for parasailing, flyboarding, motorboat rides or "banana" rides.
One of the many attractions of Maspalomas is the Palmitos Park zoo, where you can see dolphin shows, a butterfly house and an aquarium with marine animals. People who are thirsty for water fun will find themselves in Aqualand Maspalomas.
The best place for walks is the Meloneras Promenade along the picturesque coast. It takes you to the Maspalomas Lighthouse, which is the second tallest facility of this type in the Canary Islands.
