LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIASpain
St. Anne's Square
Local name: Plaza de Santa Anna
St. Anne is the central square in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is surrounded by the most important city buildings - among others, town hall, bishop's palace, cathedral and museum of sacred art. In the neighborhood there is also the Regents' Palace, currently the residence of the President of the Territorial Court.
In the square, you can see a characteristic group of eight sculptures depicting dogs. They were made of cast iron which were then painted to appear bronze. The sculptures were installed in the square in 1895.
