The cave owes its name to steam, which in the winter months is abundantly extracted from its warm interior - the locals saw in it "infernal" fumes. The biggest attraction inside the cave is a 4 m high waterfall. The cave was inhabited in prehistoric times, as evidenced by the remains of Neanderthal people found here.
