Brekov Castle, or rather its picturesque ruins, stands on a hill near the town of Brekov. There is a beautiful view of Humenné and Strážske. Until today, parts of the walls, walls and some vaults, as well as a fragment of the castle chapel have been preserved from the building. Tourists wishing to visit the ruins can use the path leading from the village, you can get here in about 10-15 minutes.
The stronghold was probably built in the 13th century in order to protect and control an important trade route running nearby. The stone castle was erected in the place of the former wooden and earth fortified stronghold from the times of the Great Moravian Empire. During the anti-Habsburg uprisings, the castle was invaded and destroyed many times. For this reason, the last owners left it in the 17th century. Since then, the monument has fallen into disrepair.
