Apuseni Natural Park

Local name: Parcul Natural Apuseni

The nature park covers part of the mountain ranges of Bihor and Vlădeasa. Here you can admire a variety of landscapes, from mountain slopes, caves, valleys and karst areas to forests and grassy pastures. The streams and rivers create picturesque waterfalls. Numerous hiking trails of varying difficulty and advancement have been marked out here.

In the park live, among others deer, bears, wolves, lynxes, otters and wildcats. Birds include golden eagles, capercaillies, ravens, hawks and several species of woodpeckers. While hiking, you can also come across lizards, Aesculapian snakes, smooth snakes and vipers, so be careful.

The park area also includes small towns and settlements. In several of them, including Arieșeni, Saca and Brădet, there are historic wooden churches from the 17th and 18th centuries.
