Casa Museu Guerra Junqueiro is a palace and museum in Porto, as well as the memorial center of the poet and writer Guerra Junqueiro. Important collections of domestic and foreign works of art are presented here, covering the period from the 15th to the 19th century. Abílio Manuel Guerra Junqueiro was a writer and poet, but also a collector of works of art, a politician, winemaker, scientist and thinker. The collection that can be admired in the museum is a donation from the writer's family, as well as a deposit from other collectors.
The eighteenth-century Baroque palace with a museum dates back to 1730 and was built by Nicolau Nasoni. In the first half of the 20th century, the building was taken over by Maria Isabela Guerra Junqueiro, who decided to display the collections of the famous poet. In 1995, the building was renovated by the architect Alcino Soutinho, one of the greatest propagators of the Oporto School of Architecture.
