Natural History Museum

The oldest still operating museum in Madeira is housed in a 17th-century palace and was founded in 1929. Its collection includes fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals characteristic of Madeira and the surrounding islands. There are also examples of fossils and minerals found here. The museum also includes an aquarium with pools presenting the flora and fauna of the island's shores and a garden of medicinal plants.
