Church of the Mercy

A small, stone church rebuilt in the mid-16th century. This is one of the few examples of buildings in the Renaissance style in Portugal. The entrance is decorated with a carved portal with columns. The interior is covered with a cassette vault. A richly carved main altar surrounds the image of the Protection of the Virgin. Sculptures of Pensive Christ, Pieta and several saints were also placed there.
