Wielka Czantoria - 995 m

Local name: Wielka Czantoria - 995 m n.p.m.

Wielka Czantoria (995 m) is the highest peak in the Czantoria Mountain Range in Silesian Beskids. It is also a crossing point between the borders of Poland and the Czech Republic. The nature reserves - Polish "Czantoria" and Czech "Cantoryje" - and an attractive viewpoint are located at its sides. The chairlift has its stop slightly below the peak.

There is also a tourist refuge built in 1904. Many tourist trails lead through the summit. The most popular is the Kazimierz Sosnowski Main Beskid Trail. The 17th/18th-century forest church - a place of secret Evangelical masses - is situated on the west slope.

The first mention of Czantoria comes from 1615 when Adam Wenceslaus of Cieszyn divided his properties in the document. There is a legend which says that knights and 300 horses sleeping in the golden chamber hidden inside the mountain wait to help Silesia in the moment of danger.
