Krakow Gate and City Hall

Local name: Brama Krakowska i Ratusz

The Krakow Gate, also known as the Rudzka Tower, is a remnant of the medieval defensive fortifications of the city of Wieluń. For those interested in it, you can see all the remains of the ramparts and the historic torture chambers called "Masturbation Tower".

Over the years, the town hall building has been erected on the Tower, connecting the 14th-century fortification with the late Renaissance monument. On the last floor there is a clock, which was moved in 1940 from St. Archangel Michael, destroyed in the tragedy of war.

Together with the Town Hall, they form an integral part of a square-shaped facility that can be admired in the city's coat of arms. During the Second World War, the gate avoided bombardment, but during the preservation of the monument in the 1960s, it ran up its upper storey.
