Trzebiatów Palace is a classicist building occupied by Trzebiatów Culture Center. It consists of a public library and gallery of works by Lyonel Feininger.
The origin of the palace dates back to the 12th century. In the beginning, there was a duke's gord. Thanks to Duchess Anastasia, it became a property of the Norbertines monastery to which she joined.Monastic St. Nicolaus's Church was built next to the former castle. It was secularized in the 16th century. Its buildings were taken over by Pomeranian Dukes from the House of Griffins. In 1560, the monastery was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle. Another reconstruction, classicist this time, was carried out in the 18th century.In 1855, the building's space was used for offices and apartments. After World War I, there was an agricultural school. After World War II, it served as barracks, headquarters of offices, and residential tenement house. Nowadays, it is occupied by a library and the culture center.Less
