Upside-down house
Local name: Dom do góry nogami
The house is upside down in the Center of Education and Regional Promotion in Szymbark. The building symbolizes the times of the Polish People's Republic, when everything was the other way around, turned upside down. Its interior was equipped with furniture from the PRL period. You enter the building through the gable window and walk on the ceiling.
The equipment inside the building is attached to the ceiling. You can also enter the first floor, and actually the ground floor. In the House, the furniture is hanging upside down and the windows are at the knees. The house rests on a chimney and is slightly inclined.
The creator of the House upside down is Daniel Czapiewski. The author of the project wanted to provoke visitors to reflect: is everything in our lives in our homes in the right place? He also had the idea of reminding the communist era and drawing attention to the fact that it was in Poland that the order and political system in Europe were reversed.
