The water tower in Ryn dates back to 1940. It's a brick octagonal building covered with plaster. It was built in the area of the former Evangelical cemetery - two tombstones and iron crosses can be spotted around the tower. It's a monument of industrial architecture which serves today as a tourist attraction.
Water towers are tall buildings with tanks placed on their top. The water they stored were distributed by networks of pipes to all households and workplaces. They also supplied railway stations, especially stands for launching steam locomotives.Less
