Czartowe Pole Nature Reserve

Local name: Rezerwat przyrody Czartowe Pole

The "Czartowe Pole" reserve covers an area of about 80.5 ha, covering a forest clearing near the ruins built in 1741 by the Zamość Paper Mill, as well as a picturesque Sopot river valley with numerous waterfalls up to 50 cm high, sandy islands and riches. fish.

In the park there is an educational path of about 2 km, with 9 stops with descriptions of the characteristic forest formation. At the beginning of the path you can see an obelisk commemorating the maneuvers of the School of Sanitary Officers from 1931, as well as a cemetery with graves of partisans killed during the fighting in 1943. The large fall of the Sopot river channel gives it a swift current resembling a more mountain stream than the river. The saltwater trout, the fish typical of mountain streams with very clean waters, is an enchantment.

An interesting fact about the reserve is the origin of its name referring to the local legend that "only the devils have been there". Legend has it related to frequent fires and floods in the reserve area.
