Museum of Warmia and Masuria

Local name: Muzeum Warmii i Mazur

The Museum in Mrągowo is one of the branches of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury. It is located in the nineteenth century City Hall and in the building of the so-called Bosnian watchtower. The exhibitions presented relate to the history of the city and the region. They bring the beginnings of settlement and the everyday life of former residents closer. Visitors can take a close look at, among others many maps, archaeological finds and household appliances.

The Knight's Brotherhood operates at the museum, which deals with historical staging and tells about the medieval customs and secrets of castles. In the Bosnian Watch Tower, next to the Museum, there is also a Memorial Room dedicated to the German writer - Ernst Wiechert. In 1790, the 9th Bosnian Regiment was stationed there. This place was the first seat of the Museum. The exhibitions were moved to the Town Hall in 1975.
