The Old Market Square in Lomza is a vast rectangular square. From all its corners, two orthogonal streets were led. Formerly in the middle of the market was the town hall. A synagogue nearby. In 1931, in the northern part of the square, the Market Hall was built. Unfortunately, during World War II the market was greatly damaged.
After the war the market was changed to a small square. Later tried again to restore his appearance, but he did not regain his former glory. The town hall is not in the center, but in the east side of the square. The synagogue was not rebuilt, and tenement houses date back to the 1950s. Because they are built in pseudo-baroque style with characteristic arcades they are extremely charming and they create the atmosphere of the Old Market. Behind the tenement houses is not far Farna street, and on its bank, near the Old Market Square there is a monument of Hanki Bielicka - the actress sitting on a bench and looking at her beloved city.
The present town hall dates back to 1822-1823 and was rebuilt in the second half of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It is made in classicist style on a rectangular plan. It is a one storey building and in the middle part there is a clock tower.
