The museum is located in the former monastery of Benedictine Sisters from 1624. It presents the permanent exhibition "The Gallery of Modern Pomeranian Painting" consisting of works by artists related to Pomerania since 1945. The facility also displays classic and abstract art.

The museum collected pieces of art by, among others, founders of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń: Stanisław Borysowski, Tymon Niesiołowski, Bronisław Jamontt and their students such as Romuald Drzewiecki, Marek Hoffmann, Andrzej Guttfeld, Małgorzata Iwanowska, and many others.

There are also works by Gdańsk's modern artists such as Kiejstut Bereźnicki, Kazimierz Ostrowski and Stefan Stankiewicz. The museum also displays paintings by artists from Grudziądz: Teodor Nowak and Zbigniew Smoliński, among others.
