Town Hall in Głogów

Local name: Ratusz w Głogowie

The headquarters of the Town Hall in Głogów impresses with its classicist style and the 80-meter tower. Its western wing consists of valuable interiors with the gorgeous diamond vault in one of the rooms. The recreated large clock of 3,55 in diameter can be admired on the tower. The observation deck with a good view of the area is located at 47 m. Visitors can also watch the exhibition "Stairs to history" which is presented chronologically from the ground floor to the top.

The current state of the Town Hall is an effect of the rebuilt carried out after the war. It was completely destroyed during World War II. As for the tower, it was blown up by occupants. What remained of the original object are only outlines of the ground floor and small fragments of the foundations. The reconstruction was initiated in 1984 and finished in the 1990s. What is interesting, the tower was officially recognized as the tallest construction of that type in Silesia and the second tallest in Poland. It is only exceeded by the tower of the Town Hall in Gdańsk.
