Vardøhus Fortress

Local name: Vardøhus festning

This historic starry fortress is the northernmost object of its kind in the world. The first fortifications were built at the beginning of the 14th century at the behest of King Haakon and Długonogi. During World War II, there was a prisoner-of-war camp and a point of anti-aircraft protection.
