On the hill rising above the city at an altitude of 63 meters above sea level you can see the ruins of the medieval fortress of Tunsberghus (it was destroyed by a fire in 1503). It is also an excellent vantage point. Every year two popular festivals are organized here - the Medieval and music festival - Slottsfjellfestivalen.
