Cathedral of St. Basil of Ostrog

Local name: Saborna crkva Sv. Vasilija Ostroškog

An impressive stone temple was erected in 1899 at the behest of King Nikola I Mirkovic Petrovic-Njegoš (1841-1921). It was designed by the famous Russian architect Mikhail Timofiejewicz Preobrażeński (1854-1930). The church was established as a memorial to soldiers killed in the war with Turkey in 1875-1880.
