Grand Baie is the main holiday resort of Mauritius. Sometimes called the Cote d'Azur, it is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches, excellent diving sites and a rich nightlife.
The town is focused primarily on servicing tourist traffic. There are numerous beach-access resorts, holiday apartments, and plenty of bars, restaurants and clubs. The biggest attractions are beaches such as Grand Baie Beach and Pereybere Beach. The water here has an amazing blue color, which harmonizes beautifully with the light sand and green of the palm groves. The beaches are developed, and many of their parts belong to individual resorts.
